How Textile Scales work...

A textile scale is not just a scale that happens to weigh textiles. A true textile scale will display a unit of measure known as GSM (Grams per Square Meter). What this means is that the scale will weigh a sample of a known size, and convert the weight of that sample as though the sample was actually one square meter... This is a creative and clever way to measure the weight of a fabric without cutting such a large sample, and wasting so much material. Typically a GSM Cutter will cut a circle sample of fabric with a 100cm diameter, or similar.
