Did you know you can purchase replacement blades for your GSM Textile Cutter?
You can extend the life of this popular fabric cutter by purchasing replacement blades when they start to get dull. Many of our customers have purchased the blades and called to ask how to install them. Here are some helpful tips to make this easier to do:
There are 4 blades in the textile cutter. The blades can be accessed through the opening on the side of the cutter base. Each blade is fastened with an outer black plate that fits over the blade and 4 screws that hold the blade onto the cutter.
CAUTION: The blades are very sharp. Never put your hand under the cutter. Do NOT try to reach the blades from under the cutter. Use a small flat head screwdriver to help position the blade.
Put the cutter on a flat surface. Rotate the the handwheel on top of the cutter so that the plate and screws that hold one blade are accessible through the opening on the side of the cutter. Using a small flat head screw driver, loosen, but do no remove, the 1st and 4th screws. Observe how the blade is held in place. Then remove the 2nd and 3rd screws and put aside. Slide the black plate off of the screws and carefully remove the blade.
Insert new blade into cutter. Note: The blade has 3 round holes in it. Align the blade so 2nd and 3rd holes on the blade are on top of the 2nd and 3rd holes on the cutter where you just removed the screws. Place black cover back on over the screws. You will probably need to use your screw driver to align blade and cutter holes. Insert and tighten screws 2 and 3. (You may find it easier to start these two screws with your thumb.) Tighten all 4 screws.
After replacing one blade, proceed with changing the other 3 blades as described above. You can count on it taking several minutes to replace each blade, perhaps 30 minutes or more in total.
You may need to fine tune the cutter by adjusting screws so they will effectively cut your required fabric. You can test cutter on a bed of paper sheets before applying cutter to your sample.
